Sunday October 28th 2007: FA Women's Cup 1st Round - Frome Town 2-0 Penzance

A last-minute goal sealed the end to Penzance's FA Women's Cup run, as the Magpies remained in contention until the end against South West Combination side, Frome Town. Frome took a controversial 16th minute lead, with Penzance not being given a handball decision as Lisa Frampton beat the visiting 'keeper to the ball from close range, following a driven ball across the box. Lauren Rustell made a goal-line clearance for Frome moments later and just before the break, a long range Magpies' free-kick was sliced onto the home crossbar by a defender. The second half was played out in pouring rain and Frome did well to contain the quick wingers of Penzance. The decisive second goal didn't arrive until the last minute, Helen Perkins backheeling the ball, Cassie Powell controlling and firing high into the roof of the net from outside of the area, to end the Magpies' 100% start to the season. Penzance played some good football and were the better side but without their walking wounded ever really looking like scoring. The Magpies return to their South West League title chase this Sunday, with a trip to Gloucester City.
