South West League Premier Division - Gloucester City 0-1 Penzance

Penzance came through a tricky South West League trip to Gloucester City to record a 1-0 victory and go second in the table. The Magpies played some good easy football in the first half, struck the post from close range after a free-kick and forced a good stop from the keeper.

It was from a Katie Barker free-kick that the opnly goal came, her delivery was flicked on for Julie Lawrence to nod past the keeper. Lindsey Williams made a good save, having to change direction to stop a deflected shot.

Gloucester came at Penzance more in the second-half but Katy Barker almost grabbed a second goal but shot the wrong side of the post when running through. Amy Hemingway suffered a cracked toe as the result of a tackle but played on to the finish.

The Magpies host Larkhall Athletic this Sunday, kick-off 2pm at Penlee Park.
